I was hired at New Horizons because of my expertise with Macintosh computers. The decision to support Mac training was not a popular one as none of the instructors were familiar with the platform or design applications. As all their techs were PC specialists, I was hired to set up the Mac lab and design a specialized curriculum.
Applications Trained
This company was a mess when I was hired. It was not a happy place to work, mostly because their workflow was really weird, and it required a tremendous amount of overtime every single day to support it. But I accepted the position because it was an opportunity to create a Mac lab from the ground up, and design my own curriculum for Adobe applications. They were a PC-only company at the time. Not only was the staff resistant to supporting Macs, they were openly hostile to the idea. The company was built around supporting business, not design. Fully 100% of their training was in Microsoft business solutions. So the creation of a Mac lab was entirely on me, including toubleshooting them. I built a lab with 30 Macs, loaded with Adobe products, and it was incredibly successful. The ability to support Adobe applications proved extremely profitable to the company.
What follows is a guestimate of the percentage (%) of my students that received training in the applications I taught, as in 90% of them came specifically for Photoshop training. Pretty much everyone I taught in Photoshop returned to take further instruction from me in other Adobe apps.
